Pandora's Present
author=Byah
Also, I'd be interested in hearing how the battles were. Too hard, too easy, too hard to follow?
I liked the fact that you presented the battles as more like puzzles than straight-forward battles. Each one has a solution to it and you can't just spam your strongest skills and hope to bulldoze your way through most of them. There were only a small handful of battles in what I've played that could be beaten with brute force, but the amount of strategy involved was very refreshing.
I was originally going to say that the lack of Game Overs hindered the experience and eliminated consequence, but then I ended up liking the fact that you have to adjust your party and strategy if you're faced with a complex challenge.
Pandora's Present
I gave this a download and played about half of it (I intend to play the rest). I love the look and overall aesthetic of the project. It's incredibly light-hearted and charming and it felt like a feel-good, heartwarming Christmas special like you'd see on TV. Excellent work! :D
One thing I noticed: If you lose a battle that you encounter on a sliding ice tile, you're immediately re-engaged and can't back out to open the menu.

Terence's Tribulations
Okiku, Star Apprentice
Hey there. I decided to give this demo a try. I had a few things to say, but it looks like Red-Nova beat me to most of them :P
Overall, I really enjoyed Okiku as a character. I don't see much of a variety or range of emotions from too many other characters in these shorter games, and it was refreshing to see a character I was genuinely interested in learning more about. I guess you can say that her frustration and short-temperedness work in her favor, and she's convincingly an impatient teenager.
My only gripe was the game balance, in that Okiku's spells were all over the place in terms of power. Her physical skills were downright useless, and I didn't find too much strategy outside of "Spam the AoE spell and then restore your MP to full." Battles felt trivial right from the get-go, let alone at Level 6 or 7.
I think this game has a lot of potential. You've got the story, characters, and maps down pat (the mountain pass could use a bit more detail, though). Just make sure that the gameplay is up to par, too!
Good work so far. Can't wait to see the full game.

The Brief and Meaningless Adventure of Hero Man
The game has been updated to Version 1.02.
Nothing major here. Just a small update that fixes another hard-to-find (unless you were intentionally trying to break something) bug that caused the events for Endings 7 and 8 to activate at the same time. Also fixes a few spelling errors.

The Brief and Meaningless Adventure of Hero Man Review
Hmmm, yeah! That first one would've made a good ending. Now I kinda wish I had put that in, haha.
Also a special thanks to Deckiller for this awesome review! I appreciate the feedback and suggestions: they'll most certainly help with whatever I work on next! :)

Thank you! Glad you liked it.
Updating the download to Version 1.01 as we speak, which prevents Endings 7 and 8 from conflicting with eachother (if you agreed to help Edmund and then inspect his dresser after) and fixes some typos.
Special thanks to RayneMercury for finding this!

Zombeo and Juliet
Well I have to say that this is pretty good for a first attempt. You've got eventing and cutscene flow down pretty well, and I have to commend you for getting the events done so well in this.
Here's a few things worth noting that you may wish to address.
- The doors in the prologue can be opened and entered, but they just make you get stuck and force you to reload or restart.
- Essences dropped so infrequently that I didn't even bother trying to hunt them.
- Despite grinding to Level 7 or so, the boss at the dog's cottage was still incredibly strong. After two attempts, I gave up.
- There was no way to recover MP that I could find, which meant I couldn't grind any higher than that to take on the boss.
All in all, I think this project has a lot of potential. It's a very novel idea and you seem to know your way around RPG Maker enough to make something great with it. Keep up the good work!

I want to say it's a tie between Dragon Quest II and IV for my favorites in the NES years. DQII was a gratingly difficult game and one of the biggest challenges to overcome in that era of gaming. And DQIV did so many things ahead of its time that few games dared to try, like playing as a different character in each chapter until they all meet up. It was very inventive for its time, and I loved it for that.
